Redesigned, Reinvigorated
Well, for the second time in the past five months, I have brought my site through a complete overhaul. Designing personal sites always presents a challenge. Logging into your site should feel like putting on your favorite t-shirt. It should make you feel like you, a sentiment that the previous site failed to evoke. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the design and all, but pulling it up made feel like I just walked into a room sporting an Big Johnson shirt in place of my usual Banana Republic (I challenge you to find a better sale rack). My motivation to update it dwindled.
The new design reflects where I am right now. At the beginning of 2008, I was offered a new job and opportunity to do exactly what I want to do and where I want to go. That’s a great feeling, one that is difficult to put into words. Where I worked previously, find a reason to be happy was often difficult. There were just too much politicking and too many internal conflicts. The people were great. The work itself left me feeling empty, and I even contemplated leaving the field altogether. Not healthy at all.
Now enough of the heavy stuff, I have found a new starting ground. There is a lot to talk about. At the time of writing this, I realize there are still a few loose ends and I will get to them.
This is just what I’d like to think I’d come up with if I weren’t so lazy. :) Great work!
@Matt - Thanks so much, man. I really appreciate it. Again, really great work with wordpress.org.
